Feature Naming

The Amazon Echo family of products revolutionized how consumers interacted with Amazon through Alexa and reimagined how individuals listened to music, searched for answers, and managed other connected devices.

Households with multiple Echo devices would sometimes experience a response from Alexa on each device when called on. Amazon improved their Echo devices by allowing each embedded microphone to analyze your voice and determine which Alexa device should respond.

Amazon wanted to call attention to this feature with a name that required little explanation. We created the feature name Alexa ESP which stands for Echo Spatial Perception.
